Yesterday a call from L.L., from back in the "Cortina" days, some 11 years ago, very happy to hear from her. She actually came to my wedding and Angélique's baptism, and she was telling me about this Toronto romanian theater company that were playing yesterday evening at Georges Vanier, she wanted us to go together with her son Michel. I had made other plans, and couldn't, but was nevertheless very happy she called me. She seemed a little worried about me (that always feels nice), but reassured once we got to talk more.
She and I had our ups and downs, especially because of C., which she disliked, and which I worshiped as my mentor for everything acting related and more, and then she made such a controlling team with C. the guy, my partner for " Visul unei nopti de iarna ", where I was Doruletz, a young and very poor girl (oh, the ugly shoes I had to wear !...) and he the older writer I fall in love with, and I so had to force myself, (but it turned up pretty good) because I profoundly disiked him, he was such a hypocrite drunk (I don't think he reads my blog, and he moved to Germany a few years ago).
But as I got to know L. more (she'a teacher of elementary school), the more I liked her; she fought and did so much, almost everything (administrative issues) for our little company, and then, after we split, trying to get everybody back together again (although the last time, that was me, and I was not able to, beacuse of C. the drunk guy).
She was and still is really nice, and I will always think of her (even if we don't really see each other anymore) with a smile for those happy happy times where I discovered that I was finally growing up, also able to be good at something I actually liked, not that somebody else thought was good for me; she was also the only one among all those Cortina people to believe in my new relationship (not even my own sister could do that), to tell me to do whatever I wanted to, and to close her eyes on my (sometimes) bitchy and nosy attitude.
I learned she has built a new house in Auteuil, her daughter Dana has a "new" (2 yrs old) daughter Amelia (she also has a son William, same age as Angélique), that her son had a hard time getting the job he wanted, and for once, we did not ask each other for news from "the others", which we always used to in our previous conversations...it seems these memories are so old.
Anyway, happy to hear from this blond little lady (and she got divorced too!)
